French archer reinforcements

Here's a new unit of French archers. Like with the older ones, I've replaced the bow hands from the Perry Wars of the Roses set with those from their Agincourt range, as the bows from the latter have much better-looking dimensions.

Most of the figures are indeed Perry plastics, though there's also one from Crusader and three particularly well-armoured ones from Eureka Miniatures - these have also been given the new plastic bows where possible. This has helped the different ranges mix in together too (I also gave one of the Eureka sculpts a new Perry head for the same reason).

And here's some photos of them working alongside some bases from the earlier units.

  1. I regularly field units of Franc Archers ( contemporaneous contemptuous comments said they couldn’t even hit a chicken with their archery skills or lack of) who fight well on the whole and recently defeated their Burgundian opponents. Great figures and unit. I enjoyed seeing them.

  2. Very nice unit. I absolutely agree with your comment about having the weapons looking about the same helps pull a unit together. We always see people with a range of heights and proportions together so mixing different sculpts together can work fine as long as the weapons look compatible - and the more standardised they were, the more important that becomes. I spent a lot of time scratch building some 15mm crossbows for that very reason!
